Join onsemi’s webinar and learn from a power semiconductor expert. Battery-operated equipment is becoming the sustainable choice for industrial and construction applications – from power tools, lawn mowers, to material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet trucks and automated guided vehicles.

This class of battery charger systems need to be reliable, robust, and perform well in harsh outdoor industrial environments while being compact, lightweight and not require forced cooling. Moreover, these battery charger systems may need to be powered from 120 -277 Vac or even 480 Vac.

Silicon Carbide (SiC)-based switching devices are becoming a popular choice as it enables faster switching speeds and superior low loss operation thus improving power density without compromising. In addition SiC supports alternative power factor topologies that were not practical with IGBT technology.

Key Takeaways

  • Review different power topologies such as Half Bridge LLC, Full Bridge LLC Resonant topology with synchronous rectification, Dual Active Bridge and totem- pole PFC

  • Present SiC MOSFETs selection criteria for PFC stage, primary power stage and silicon based MOSFETs for secondary synchronous rectification power stage

  • Introduce advantages of onsemi’s EliteSiC MOSFETs and their performance attributes
