Infineon Technologies AG announced that the District Court Munich I (Landgericht München I) has ruled in its favor in two additional patent infringement cases involving gallium nitride (GaN) technology and Chinese semiconductor company Innoscience.
The rulings relate to the unauthorized use of GaN technologies protected by one Infineon patent and one utility model. According to the court’s decisions, Innoscience is prohibited from manufacturing, selling, and marketing the infringing products in Germany. The court also ordered Innoscience to pay damages to Infineon.
Infineon stated that these decisions represent the third and fourth rulings in a series of legal proceedings in which courts have found that Innoscience products infringe Infineon’s intellectual property rights.
The company highlighted previous legal outcomes, including a German court ruling issued on August 1, 2025, and a decision by the Full Commission of the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) on May 7, which found that Innoscience had infringed an Infineon patent related to gallium nitride technology. Additional patent infringement proceedings involving other Infineon patents remain pending in both Germany and the United States.
Gallium nitride technology is increasingly used in high-performance and energy-efficient power systems across a broad range of applications, including renewable energy systems, data centers, industrial automation equipment, and electric vehicles.
Commenting on the ruling, Johannes Schoiswohl, Senior Vice President and Head of Infineon’s GaN Systems Business Line, said that the decision highlights the value of Infineon’s GaN intellectual property portfolio and reinforces the company’s commitment to protecting its innovations and supporting fair competition within the semiconductor industry.
Infineon noted that it continues to expand its position in the GaN market through ongoing investment in research and development. The company stated that its intellectual property portfolio includes approximately 450 GaN patent families, supporting its activities as an integrated device manufacturer across a wide range of power semiconductor applications.
The company added that it remains focused on advancing semiconductor technologies that contribute to key global trends, including digitalization, electrification, and decarbonization.
