ROHM Co., Ltd. has introduced the ROHM PLECS Simulator, a new online simulation platform designed to accelerate power electronics circuit design and device selection.

Built on the PLECS® simulation environment, the tool focuses on rapid loss and thermal analysis for power semiconductor applications. Designers can simulate power loss and temperature behavior within seconds to minutes by selecting circuit topologies and ROHM power devices directly through the web interface.

The simulator addresses a key challenge in power electronics development: reducing the time and complexity associated with evaluating devices during the early stages of circuit design. While ROHM’s previously launched ROHM Solution Simulator emphasized highly accurate waveform verification using detailed SPICE models, the new PLECS-based platform prioritizes fast initial analysis for selecting optimal power devices.

Currently, the tool supports 20 circuit topologies and includes compatibility with a range of ROHM devices. The company plans to further expand the simulator to support additional topologies and products, including SiC devices, IGBTs, and power modules.

By offering both rapid thermal/loss estimation and high-precision waveform simulation across different design stages, ROHM is strengthening its system-level support capabilities and improving accessibility for engineers evaluating wide-bandgap and advanced power solutions.
