GlobalFoundries has announced the appointment of Matthew Zack as Chief Corporate Development Officer (CCDO), reporting directly to Chief Executive Officer Tim Breen. Zack will also join the company’s executive leadership team and lead GlobalFoundries’ global corporate development strategy.
With extensive experience in corporate development and strategic growth, Zack will oversee mergers and acquisitions, strategic partnerships, venture investments, and post-transaction integration. His appointment supports GlobalFoundries’ ongoing efforts to expand its technology portfolio and deliver differentiated solutions for a global customer base across critical industries.
Zack brings a strong track record of success in the semiconductor and enterprise software sectors. Most recently, he co-led the integration management office for the $35 billion Synopsys-Ansys transaction, one of the largest combinations in the history of the semiconductor ecosystem. Prior to that, Zack served for eight years as Global Head of Corporate Development at Ansys, where he played a key role in over 20 acquisitions and strategic partnerships, helping to expand the company’s market capitalization from $8 billion to over $35 billion.
Earlier in his career, Zack held leadership roles at SAP, Ariba, and FreeMarkets. He also serves as Chair of the Board at EdgeCase, an AI startup focused on the safe deployment of complex systems.
“Matt joins us with a proven track record of driving impact through thoughtful, strategic corporate development leadership,” said Tim Breen, Chief Executive Officer of GlobalFoundries. “His experience in shaping transformative deals and building partnerships will help us execute our inorganic growth strategy and deliver even greater value for our customers and stakeholders.”
“GF is a global leader in the mission-critical semiconductor industry,” said Zack. “I look forward to working with this talented team to identify and execute opportunities that strengthen GF’s technology portfolio, accelerate innovation for customers worldwide and drive growth for our shareholders.”
Zack’s appointment reflects GlobalFoundries’ continued focus on building long-term value through both organic and inorganic growth initiatives in a dynamic global semiconductor landscape.
