Microchip Technology has expanded its operations in India with the acquisition of 1.72 lakh square feet (16,000 square meters) of premium office space in the Export Promotion Industrial Park (EPIP) Zone, Whitefield, Bengaluru. This expansion underlines the company’s long-term commitment to strengthening its engineering and design capabilities in the region.
The new facility will serve as a strategic extension of Microchip’s existing Bengaluru Development Center and is planned to support a growing workforce of over 3,000 employees over the next decade. Designed with modern infrastructure, the site will facilitate advanced research and development activities while enhancing collaboration across global and regional teams.
According to Srikanth Settikere, vice president and managing director of Microchip’s India Development Center, “At Microchip, growth is about creating opportunities as much as scaling operations. With India contributing to nearly 20% of global semiconductor design talent, our new Bengaluru facility will sharpen our advanced IC design focus and strengthen our engagement in one of the country’s most dynamic technology hubs.”
Steve Sanghi, President and CEO of Microchip, noted, “We recently celebrated Microchip’s 25th anniversary in India and this office acquisition is a testament to our commitment in India. We believe our investments in the region will enable us to both benefit from and contribute to the country’s increasingly important role in the global semiconductor industry.”
This new office marks Microchip’s second facility in Bengaluru, adding to its existing presence in Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune and New Delhi. The expansion supports the company’s strategy to drive product development, enable business growth, and foster engineering talent in India, with applications spanning industrial, automotive, consumer, aerospace and defense, communications, and computing markets.
